Why this blog...

I am the mother of the three most talented, intelligent and beautiful children ever to live on this earth. I am also privileged to be married to the most wonderful man! He has added three additional talented, intelligent and beautiful children to our family! I have a job that I mostly love, a wonderful education, a beautiful home, marvelous family, and I have the privilege of belonging to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have been greatly blessed in my life, but I sometimes forget that. So, I decided to create this blog as a way to remind myself of all the many blessings and miracles that surround me. (I'm also terrible at keeping a journal- so this will be something for my kids to enjoy as well.)

I hope you enjoy what you read. I would love to hear what you think!

So Many Happy Moments...

Life is difficult and challenging. That doesn't change just because good things happen. But life is FULL of good and happy things ALWAYS! And that will never change just because life is challenging.

A few of the happy moments:

So excited to be planning a wedding with my little girl! She is so happy!!! And most of the planning = a happy moment!

A neighbor's son receiving his mission call for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! And Jon 'winning' on his prediction- Mexico!

Date night with my HUSBAND (not just another guy I am dating...)! So happy to spend time with him, talk with him, laugh with him!

Birthday lunches with 'the kids'. Abby last week, Cassie and Allen this week... VERY HAPPY times!!!

And Easter egg hunts with family! I am so happy that my Charly loves to organize events like these!

And what could make a little one happier than digging in Grandpa's planters and throwing the dirt at your cousin?!

I am so blessed to be surrounded by such happy moments!

Faster Than the Blink of an Eye!

(The following is dedicated to those who love 'the Doctor' as much as I- Jonny, Charly, and of course, Tracy!)

To quote one of my favorite 'Easter eggs': "Don't blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink. Good luck."

So true of life, especially mine! Well, except for the dead part, that is...

I blink, and my whole life changes even faster than that blink!

My darling daughter, future missionary to North Carolina... Well, the Lord has other plans. She is going to marry a wonderful young man in the VERY NEAR future- before I can blink!

Now I don't know the young man in question very well. However, besides knowing he's terrific because my daughter wants to marry him, so many loved ones that do know him well think he is wonderful. So, am I happy about life's changes? Yes!

And Jon will be graduating from high school soon... my baby! And then leaving on an LDS mission!

And so many challenges in between it all. When times get hard, and they have and certainly will yet, I know that the Lord is always nearby! And there are always blessings to be found!

So I will look for those tender mercies and try not to blink!

Happy 3/14 (Pi) Day!!!

Being Pi day and all, I just had to say that my son, Jon, makes the BEST sweet potato pie ever!!!

He made these for Luke and my party last Saturday!

And besides setting up and cleaning up, entertained the kids in between! What a great guy!!!

And the ADC Irish Dancers were AMAZING!! If you missed it, you will have to go downtown this Saturday for the St. Patrick's day events...

Two of my favorite dancers!

And this little one stole the show!

I am so grateful for so many wonderful people in my life!!!

So Now We Eat Cake!!!

Our Sunday School lesson today was, in part, on the topic of the ministering of angels and the right we have, if we live our life in such a manner, to have angels to guide us in our lives. What a beautiful truth!

It brought to my mind my life just one short year ago...

my post was entitled: Don't Let the Turkeys Get You Down!

So much good in life, and yet I so wanted to meet a noble man. For many reasons I could not just give up on the dating scene, partly because I had had a sacred, very special experience indicating that I should not just walk away from trying to find that man.

So even with all of the disappointments and discouragement that is 'dating' while older, I decided to do things in life I knew to be right and true, to do the best that I could. Then I tried to stay open to people and to 'get out there' and stay... even though I met turkey after turkey after turkey...

But I knew there was something more that I would need in order to find a truly good man. So, I continued to pray, read my scriptures, attend the temple, attend my church meetings, and, in short, to try to do all of the things I still need to do in my life; all of the things that make life great and beautiful no matter what else is happening.

And I was so very blessed!

I am sure that I did have guidance in where to look and when. It was not a coincidence that just four days after I signed up for eHarmony, that I responded to Luke. I did not just sign up for eHarmony when I did by chance. I know I was led there, almost pushed at the end... As Luke mentioned today, the Lord has blessed us so much in allowing us to meet and to be married. Luke is so right. We were guided to each other, and if we both live worthy, we will be guided in what we both need to do in order to continue to be strong together!

So next weekend, we have a party! And if you know us, please join with us at our Stake Center (LDS church building) for a great performance at 6 PM:

And then we will eat cake!!!
