Why this blog...

I am the mother of the three most talented, intelligent and beautiful children ever to live on this earth. I am also privileged to be married to the most wonderful man! He has added three additional talented, intelligent and beautiful children to our family! I have a job that I mostly love, a wonderful education, a beautiful home, marvelous family, and I have the privilege of belonging to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have been greatly blessed in my life, but I sometimes forget that. So, I decided to create this blog as a way to remind myself of all the many blessings and miracles that surround me. (I'm also terrible at keeping a journal- so this will be something for my kids to enjoy as well.)

I hope you enjoy what you read. I would love to hear what you think!

20 Date Challenge- from Ben & Charly...

If I can figure it out, this will be an ongoing post- updated until 20!

If you would like to know more about this challenge, go here:

Date 1:
That's right... taking the teenager to the good ole DLD! Followed by ice cream...
Not romantic or even recommended- except spending time talking to your teen is always great!

Date 2:
A visit to the Tooele landfill... Helping out a former neighbor dispose of a tree.... Luke did take me four-wheeling afterwards. And that was FUN!!!

Date 3:
Not to be outdone by date 2... this is the Herriman landfill! :) Really the date involved taking a long drive (something we both love!) through Copperton and down through Herriman, looping back home. When we passed the landfill, we couldn't help but remember the good times in Tooele!
Driving and talking  and looking at the sights = a great date!

Date 4:
Watching all those home movies! Quote from Luke: "You know, that wasn't as boring as I thought it might be." Translation: "I really enjoyed seeing your kids grow up!" So much fun!!!

Date 5:
Picnic at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple (no, this is not a pic from that date... but it is a pic of why that temple for the picnic!)

Date 6:
A drive up a canyon- plenty to choose from here in Utah! We love the ones by Tooele. Plus we get to visit with Luke's parents on the way!

Date 7:
Going with Abby to the temple- her first time!
VERY special, one-of-a-kind date!

Date 8:

Blood Test then Breakfast! Luke had to fast before the test, and since we had a complimentary meal at the hospital, it became the perfect date!

Date 9:

Free concert with Master Jim! My amazingly talented friend from high school played the most beautiful music in the most beautiful setting!

Date 10:
Adult Session of Stake Conference with Elder Keetch and Elder Golden of the Seventy- no pics, but a very special time learning more about the Gospel of Christ with Luke!

Date 11:

The copper mine overlook- 1st anniversary of Luke's proposal!

Date 12:

City Creek Center- downtown SLC... and dinner at Kneaders- basically a re-enactment of our first official date- so fun to window shop and talk!

Date 13:

Dinner in downtown Erda- of all places! Local 'dives' can be great!!! And then a visit with Luke's parents... such very nice people = a very nice date night! And the drive between here and there is spectacular!

Date 14:

Caselot sale at Macy's and flu shots! Yes, it sounds lame.... but shopping for food can be fun! And the peace of mind being prepared for life is priceless- at least to Luke!

Date 15:

Driving a care package to our favorite single UVU student... (and when your kids are grown, it does count as a date, Charly- it was planned, executed and paid for by one party- and the drive there and back was a great chance to catch up with each other for the week!) And of course, we "had" to take him to dinner- YUM!

Date 16:
(pic to come)

High school football! Lone Peak vs. Lehi- Go Allen! (proud step-MIL moment... of the offensive line coach who is perfectly polite regardless of his title!) Even better, Lone Peak dominated and is headed for the playoffs!

Date 17:

best pic- pretty sad...

Enjoying some free ice cream and an early Halloween movie! Love 'Arsenic and Old Lace!'

Date 18:

Halloween Night at 'The Chocolate- A Dessert Cafe"- So fun! And great music... We pretty much had the place to ourselves!

Date 19:

Downtown! Riding TRAX, browsing the antique shops, window shopping in City Creek, and eating in the food court = FUN!

Date 20!!!

After watching Lone Peak trounce Alta in the state playoffs, enjoying a spectacular sunset over Utah Lake, celebrating the football victory with fireworks, and dragging State Street, where else are you going to eat?- The Purple Turtle, of course!

Road Trip: Day 6

Day 6: Saturday, July 20th:

Started the day in Jordan, MN...

Cute town with a great place to eat breakfast!

The omelet was divine- and we had a view of a river. The other side of this place overlooks a river, surrounded by so many shades of green!
I love MN!

Had dinner in Carrington, ND. Just a small town really... who would have thought it would have such a fun convention center?!

Might not be exactly PC-
but I LOVED the cowboy/Indian theme! Food was OK- but ambiance was terrific!

Ended the day with Luke's sister and family in Minot, ND.

Such a fun road trip!

And Anthony children, take note:
