Why this blog...

I am the mother of the three most talented, intelligent and beautiful children ever to live on this earth. I am also privileged to be married to the most wonderful man! He has added three additional talented, intelligent and beautiful children to our family! I have a job that I mostly love, a wonderful education, a beautiful home, marvelous family, and I have the privilege of belonging to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have been greatly blessed in my life, but I sometimes forget that. So, I decided to create this blog as a way to remind myself of all the many blessings and miracles that surround me. (I'm also terrible at keeping a journal- so this will be something for my kids to enjoy as well.)

I hope you enjoy what you read. I would love to hear what you think!

"Mom, I think you'd better come look at this..."

NOT the words that made my day/week better! Jon was referring to this tree:
See anything wrong with this picture?!
The strong winds had separated the right portion of the tree from the rest- it is still standing thanks to the support of our neighbor's tree!

Silly tree! And my week keeps going just like this- one thing wrong after another! I tried to put a quilt on the frame only to have each clamp take a turn popping off! Augh!!! The dryer is making a 'funny' noise, my computer is running REALLY slow, I spent more time with Josh in the last week than I did with Luke, .... you get the pic- lots of little things that add up to a slightly frustrating stress level that apparently equals life this week.

So, as Luke suggested, let's all think like Pollyanna (haven't watched that vid in a while- may be a good idea for tomorrow!)

I have been wanting to take that tree out of my yard, and now I have the perfect excuse to do it! And what will the priest quorum do for their weekly activity if I don't find these 'little' projects for them anyway?!

I finally spotted the hummingbird nest, and there are two babies!
And nobody named Jon was hurt in climbing the tree for the pic either!

After a few hours of ripping out the ugly bushes, digging and raking, putting down the weed fabric, planting, and mulching, I have:

hard to see- but my shade garden is started!

Now if only I could grow the veg like I can the rest....
But even when things go oh so very wrong, I am greatly blessed!
And Charly's dance performance is this weekend!!!

This Week Needs that Scooby-Doo Chase Scene Music!

I absolutely LOVE Scooby-Doo chase scene music! (and Scooby-Doo... see last year's post here

The music is always fun, wacky, and SO doesn't match the cartoon action! And sometimes it is actually inspiring like this one that I need playing in the background this week:

Love The World

You've got to love the world,
Be a friend,
And when you're down you've got to get up again
And when you're blue,
Here's what you do:
Just sing this happy tune:
Badada badada badada dadadadadadah
Badada badada badadadadadadah
Talk to the sun,
Said, "How do you do?
I've got a problem and I'm counting on you."
What he said pleased me,
He said, "Happy is easy,
Heres all you got to:
You've got to love the world,
Be a friend,
And when you're down you've got to get up again
And when you're blue,
Here's what you do:
Just sing this happy tune."
(Come on now)
It's been a long time, now, since I've been blue,
'Cause happy is easy when you know what to do
Just love the world,
Try to be a friend,
When someone asks just tell them again,
You've got to love the world,
Be a friend,
And when you're down you've got to get up again
And when you're blue,
Here's what you do:
Just sing this happy tune:
(Come on now)
Badada badada badada dadadadadadah
Badada badada badadadadadadah

And it works too!

This week: Terrific Father's Day! Love you Daddy!

Made the BEST dinner (no recipe- just 'threw' some stuff together)...why don't I cook like this more often?!
I didn't get the job, but I am SO VERY glad I applied! And the director called me personally to break the news; he wanted to tell me that they were definitely keeping my information on hand for future reference! What a great compliment!!!

And I had a day with 'my' girls! Thank you, Ardis, for allowing me to 'adopt' your kids from time to time- they are the best!

Where are the strawberries?

Adilynne LOVES strawberries!

Birthday picnic!

Life's Always Better with Pink Flamingos!

Wow! School has only been out for a week and I already feel like it has been forever! So many new challenges are here, and so many very big decisions are looming on the horizon! So I decided it was high time I got those pink flamingos!!!

I just love them!

I have my job interview on Thursday morning... so much to think about!

But I also have plenty of 'flamingos' in my life:
Makayla and Adilynne- my other girls are coming to play with me again tomorrow!

And of course:

Charly!
I was able to take Charly to Weber State last week to look for an apartment, etc.... I will miss her terribly, but I am so very proud of her and all that she is accomplishing in her life!

This week's challenge: find those pink flamingos and enjoy their beauty!

"It's really fun, isn't it?!"

It's been a hard week in so many ways.... And it's been a glorious week in so many ways!

The roses are in bloom!

It was the last week of the school year. The kids were ready to be done and so were we! And yet, I was able to spend quite a bit of time with some of the really good people who work at my school, time talking and laughing. I have been so very blessed to make friends with so many this year! They are incredibly kind and talented professionals- and they are so supportive of me and what I am doing. Herriman High School has been such a great experience in my life!

I was able to attend a funeral with Luke this weekend. It was for his aunt- As her children spoke of her life and all of the wonderful attributes of this dear lady, I thought so much about my own mother, how blessed I am to have been a part of her life! Also makes me hope that I can do and be half as much to my own children (and hopefully one day, my grandchildren!)

And I got to attend Stake Conference!!! It was such an inspiring meeting (and thanks to my Char's example, I even took notes!) Brother and Sister Ogden from the presidency of the OM temple spoke.
Sister Ogden shared a sacred experience from her life and taught this: "It was through attendance in the temple that I learned the important truths."
Brother Ogden shared his "parable of the horse and the rabbit"- how everything in life, and most especially in the Gospel, asks us to give more than we take if we desire to become truly happy by becoming more like our Savior, Jesus Christ.
And President Baer finished the meeting beautifully. Of being a member of the Church, he said, "It's really fun, isn't it?!"
What a great man!!!

And my life, though I may complain of the challenges sometimes, is really fun too!
